Digital media classes typically cover graphic design, animation, audio production, video production, and web design. While taking these courses may help improve media literacy, I do not think they should be required in schools. The topics included in digital media classes will not be used in a lot of jobs. A lot of people complain about taking multiple math courses and learning information that you will not use later in life, and I think that if digital media was required, the same thing would happen. Knowing how to use programs like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop may give you an advantage when applying to certain jobs, so I think that it is still a valuable class, but people should only take it if they want to.
